For the 'Fitting Room' series, the changing of clothes and properties are used to manifest the transfer of identity. And this feature applies to his later exhibition 'Mortal Coil' which further make audience to rethink and reconsider how influential of those celebrities in shaping the history and the development of pop culture in Hong Kong.

I think it is a nice idea for the artist to further explore things related to Hong Kong in the form of paper cutting doll since for some generations, 'paper cutting doll' is part of their childhoods which may stimulate them to recall memories or events in the past when they are visiting the exhibition. Besides, paper cutting doll is part of the Hong Kong's toy history. Therefore, using it for artistic purpose helps to preserve it.

How does he create his artwork?
For me, his artwork which two costumes/figures depicted side-by side but inverted are just like a 'poker cards'. I wonder why did the artist depict in such a way and was there any special meaning for this? Ans. the artist intended to do that since he regarded Chow Yun Fat as the king of Hong Kong's movie
Also, I think the Chow Yun Fat depicted in his works are not really like the real Chow Yun Fat. I think what make me recognize who he depicted were those costumes and adornments. Besides, why did the artist choose two costumes from the films/ drama? Ans. tried to capture 2 scenes which are in contrast and what criteria made him choose those films/ drama/ costumes? Ans. stylized costumes which show contrast in characters in term of era ( Contemporary HK, Shanghai etc. )
In addition, why the artist creates two sets of figure (holding adornment and not holding adornment)?Ans. the standing post figures in 'Red Curtain' are used to show the main character and costume. While the 'Green Curtain' is use to introduce the iconic scene from the movies. Is there any special meaning for using the red and green for the curtain? or just for visual effect? Ans. for visual effect

Since the underlying message of the exhibition of ' Chow Yun Fat's Fitting Room' is about the identity of Hong Kong people, and this exhibition showed in Shanghai in November 2010, so I would like to ask:
1. did the artist have any worries when his exhibition showed in Shanghai since the cultural background of Shanghai people are different ? Ans. as Chinese also know about the situation of Hong Kong well
2. who was his intended audience? Ans. mainly Hong Kong people since his works are very local

Chow Yun Fat’s Fitting Room
I like those 'paper cutting dolls' (剪紙公仔) of Chow Yun Fat because it recall my childhood memory as I played with those 'paper cutting dolls' when I was little. Also, I never think that paper cutting doll can become an artwork which impressed me as well.
I am curious about
1. why did the artist use the form of 'paper cutting doll' to present his idea (identity)? Ans. the process of changing costumes like the change of identity
2. why did he depict Chow Yun Fat but not others? Ans. a resounding movie star: good for oversea exhibitions as foreigners know Chow Yun Fat

3. why did he alter his depicting style from gongbi which he practices for more than a decade? Ans. he still uses googbi to draw the figures, just tries something new and put them together to form new artwork
